    The Heat reducing Effects of Reflective Clothing in Firefighting: A study on the efficiency of reflective textiles in personal protective equipment

    The purpose of this project is to understand if reflective surfaces, even after soot application, can be a worthwhile addition to standard firefighting protective clothing.

    - Would the inclusion of reflective textiles, in standard firefighting apparel contribute to a lessened heat accumulation in firefighters during construction firefighting?
    - Is there a drastically lessened beneficial effect when soot is applied to the reflective fabric?
    - If so, how big is the difference and how does it compare to the difference in standard firefighting apparel?

    In a fire situation, large parts of the emitted thermal radiation exist outside of the visual spectrum. As (Försth & Roos, 2009)) suggests, in materials with an already high absorptivity value, the darkening or charring, may not actually contribute to a greater absorption of radiant heat. The aluminized material has a very low emissivity/absorptivity value, providing an excellent protection against radiant heat. The application of soot there will increase the overall emissivity of the material, but it is possible that soot application may not actually increase the emissivity of the material to such a degree that it becomes less effective than the standard firefighter apparel used in firefighting.

      Determination of thermal conductivity for mastic asphalt by combining previously performed laboratory work and TASEF - 2021

      The aim of this master thesis was to develop a temperature-dependent thermal conductivity which resulted in temperature development curves that correlated well with the results presented in Ellinor Sanned’s bachelor thesis “Insulation of timber with concrete and cast asphalt”. Sanned performed laboratory work were two different samples of mastic asphalt was tested in a cone calorimeter. The cone calorimeter was set to 51 kW/m2 and Sanned measured the temperature development beneath the mastic asphalt.

        Fasomvandlingsmaterial: Brandrisker med energilagring i byggnader - 2021

        Syftet med arbetet är framställa en verklighetsbild av hur fasomvandlingsmaterial används i dagsläget inom byggindustrin samt vilka kunskaper som finns om dess risker och möjligheter. Detta har undersökts med hjälp av en vetenskapligt intervjustudie om fasomvandlingsmaterial.
